【#Tech24H】Phones have seen a new round of price adjustments. Starting at midnight on October 9, Huawei raised the suggested retail prices of the nova16 and nova16 Pro by 400 yuan, and the nova16 SE by 200 yuan, with channel procurement prices also increased accordingly. On the same day, Xiaomi announced price increases across the entire Xiaomi 17 Ultra series. The standard model's starting price rose from 6,999 yuan to 7,999 yuan, and the higher-tier Leica Edition's starting price increased from 7,999 yuan to 8,999 yuan. This comes just over a month after Huawei and Xiaomi last raised prices of their available models. It is not just phones — PCs are also facing price adjustments to varying degrees. It is reported that PC makers such as Lenovo, Dell, and HP have raised prices by up to 20% this year. The root cause of this collective price hike for phones and PCs is that AI servers are squeezing memory production capacity, severely constraining the supply of consumer-grade DRAM and NAND, with costs passed down the supply chain to end devices. One industry practitioner commented, "Memory modules are like gold right now; prices fluctuate every single day, and there will definitely be another sharp surge in December." Industry analysts say this round of price increases for phones and PCs will last at least until the second half of 2027 and may gradually ease around 2028. However, if AI demand continues to exceed expectations, the turning point will be pushed back.
