【#Tech24H】One of the greatest challenges in bone tissue regeneration is forming a vascular network inside the newly grown tissue. Without a blood supply, thick bone tissue cannot survive or grow properly. An interdisciplinary team at Pennsylvania State University has achieved a breakthrough: by programming cells and using gene-switch technology, they have enabled 3D-printed bone tissue to autonomously generate new blood vessels. This technology is currently aimed at patients with large bone defects caused by cancer, infection, or severe trauma, and is not intended for routine fracture treatment.
