Photo List Global Smartphone Shipments Decline

#Tech24HAccording to the latest report from market analysis firm Counterpoint Research, global smartphone shipments in 2026 are forecast to decline by 14.3% yearonyear. Prices for LPDDR4 and LPDDR5 memory, used in mainstream phones, are expected to roughly double in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, with supply tightness likely to persist until the second half of 2027. Cost pressures are forcing manufacturers to raise prices, cut lowmargin configurations, and streamline product lines. The report predicts that some Chinese manufacturers will see shipment declines of between 15% and 34% in 2026. Manufacturers are expected to respond by reducing memory configurations, adopting older SoCs, and raising prices or discontinuing unprofitable products, with an overall priority on financial discipline and core markets rather than clinging to market share.[ By Zhang Liyan | Tang Ruohan ]
