【#Tech24H】According to the BBC, BMW will introduce humanoid robots into its European car manufacturing for the first time. Two humanoid robots named Aeon, made by Hexagon Robotics, are planned to officially enter production this summer and are currently undergoing test deployment at BMW’s Leipzig plant in Germany. The Aeon humanoid robot stands 1.65 metres tall and weighs 60 kilograms. It has a maximum moving speed of 2.4 metres per second, can carry up to 15 kilograms for short periods, or continuously carry 8 kilograms. Aeon is also equipped with 21 sensors, including cameras, radar, microphones, and force/torque sensors for fine manipulation. However, Aeon’s battery lasts only three hours, while a single production shift is eight hours long. To address this, the robot has been designed to replace its own battery in about three minutes, including the travel time to and from the charging station.
