【#Tech24H】Cotton topping (removing the terminal buds) is a critical step in cotton cultivation, directly determining final yield and fibre quality, and is a core operation for stable yields and quality improvement. At the 2026 Xinjiang International Agricultural Machinery Expo, the nextgeneration intelligent cotton topping robot, VTM09BV2, developed by Shenzhen Viewer Technology Co., Ltd., drew considerable attention. Equipped with the “Jingwei” fullstack intelligent agricultural platform, the robot integrates multisensor machine vision and AI algorithms. It uses 108 highprecision independently controlled robotic arms to accurately identify and locate cotton plants, achieving millimetrelevel intelligent topping that perfectly mimics manual operation. The new model has a working efficiency three times higher than its predecessor, capable of topping 20 to 30 mu of cotton per hour, or 400 to 600 mu per day, making it suitable for large contiguous fields. In terms of power and endurance, the new model features a dedicated rangeextender drive system, it can drive and operate autonomously without being towed by a tractor, and a single full tank of fuel allows continuous operation for over 22 hours, effectively solving the high energy consumption and limited endurance of traditional models.
