Beijing, January 8 (Youth.cn) - Municipal intangible cultural inheritor Wang Weipeng was coloring a "beast-head" of a stilt-beast on January 7th. Stilt-beast is one of national intangible cultural heritages originate from Jishan County, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province.
On upcoming Spring Festival, the inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage is busy making the "stilt-beast" performance costume. Applied with original methods, he re-designed carefully the "head" part and "body" part of the costume. "Stilt-beast" costumes appear vivid, lively, powerful, exquisite and brilliant. As a folk art with local characteristics, the beast costumes are inspired by myth animals, such as wild wolf, unicorn, Kylin and fish-dragon, and are matched with stilts of different scales. Totally 10 sets of costumes are made for the Spring Festival celebration, injecting new vitality to the inheriting of "stilt-beast" and developing further the intangible cultural heritage.
