The Brazilian government invited ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya to visit the country on Aug. 12, the Brazilian foreign ministry said on August 3.
The ministry said it does not recognize Honduras' interim government and it supports Zelaya's returning to power.
Zelaya left Nicaragua on Monday to visit Mexico, beginning his diplomatic tour in Latin American countries in a bid to seek support to his decision of returning to Honduras and exert more pressure on the interim government.
Since he was ousted by a coup on June 28, Zelaya has tried three times to return to his country.
