Amazon Web Services Launches Open-Source MCP Server
At the International Telecommunication Union's AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Amazon Web Services announced a new open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. With this tool, scientists and researchers can use conversational AI to quickly retrieve datasets from the Registry of Open Data on AWS (RODA) in seconds, drastically cutting manual search time. RODA currently provides access to over 1,100 high-quality datasets from more than 400 organizations worldwide, covering satellite imagery, life sciences, climate, geospatial data, and more, with a total data volume reaching hundreds of petabytes.
