【#Tech24H】In 2026, China’s space program will witness a series of major breakthroughs, with a packed mission schedule. The new-generation crewed spacecraft “Mengzhou” will make its maiden flight, designed for future operations in low-Earth orbit space stations and crewed lunar exploration missions. The Chang’e-7 mission will head to the lunar south pole to conduct critical scientific tasks, including lunar surface environment surveys and water-ice detection. The Tianwen-2 probe will journey to asteroid 2016HO3 for exploration, sampling, and a return to Earth. In crewed spaceflight, the Shenzhou-23 and Shenzhou-24 crewed spacecraft will launch from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, transporting astronauts to the China Space Station. 2026 will also be a year of accelerated development for China’s commercial space sector. With the establishment of the Commercial Spaceflight Department under the China National Space Administration, commercial launch activities are expected to become more active.
