【#Tech24H】A research team from Nanjing University has, for the first time, mapped the spatiotemporal distribution of maximum coverage of Non-Photosynthetic Vegetation (NPV) across China’s terrestrial regions by constructing a high-precision remote sensing inversion framework. They also innovatively proposed a carbon exchange flux index for terrestrial ecosystems, revealing the response characteristics of NPV to climate gradients and its pivotal role in the carbon cycle within these ecosystems. This study fills a gap in large-scale dynamic monitoring and estimation of NPV in China, providing significant value for accurately assessing the resilience and carbon cycle feedback mechanisms of terrestrial ecosystems across different climate zones.
