【#Tech24H】Recently, the China Meteorological Administration launched the meteorological artificial intelligence scientific model "Feng Yuan." This model aims to enhance the capabilities of AI-based weather forecasting models and advance meteorological AI research by providing an open and open-source technology innovation platform infrastructure. "Feng Yuan" V1.0 consists of two modules—data assimilation and forecasting—enabling global weather forecasts directly based on observation data. The long-term goal of "Feng Yuan" is to evolve into an open forecasting model driven by observations, integrating multi-layer coupling and physical mechanisms. It is hoped that its open nature will attract industry experts, pool research and development efforts, and, once the forecasting model matures, facilitate operational testing to provide theoretical and technical support for forecasting operations.
