Soft X-ray Pulses Lasting Only 19.2 Attoseconds Are Produced

【#Tech24H】Scientists at Spain’s Institute of Photonic Sciences have successfully generated soft X-ray pulses lasting just 19.2 attoseconds, making them the shortest and brightest soft X-ray pulses ever produced. This achievement is equivalent to creating an “ultrafast camera” that can capture electron dynamics in real-time with unprecedented detail. It provides a powerful tool for observing previously inaccessible microscopic processes and will greatly advance fields such as materials science and quantum technology.
