【#Tech24H】Chinese researchers have discovered rare impact melt fragments of CI-type carbonaceous chondrites in the lunar soil samples collected by the Chang'e-6 mission. These fragments are the products formed when the parent body of such meteorites impacted the lunar surface, melted, and rapidly cooled. Meteorites are hailed as "messengers of the solar system," carrying secrets of planetary birth and evolution. This discovery not only confirms that asteroid fragments can travel a "long journey" from the outer solar system to the inner solar system but also provides new clues to explain the origin of water on the Moon.
