【#Tech24H】A "sharp-eyed" tool for observing the solar magnetic field is now in operation. Recently, the national major scientific research instrument development project, the "Mid-Infrared Observation System for Accurate Solar Magnetic Field Measurement" (referred to as the "AIMS telescope"), passed its final acceptance and was officially commissioned at an altitude of 4,000 meters on Saishiteng Mountain in Lenghu, Qinghai. As the world’s first dedicated mid-infrared solar magnetic field observation device, the telescope not only fills the gap in international mid-infrared solar magnetic field observation but also provides an important reference for the construction of large astronomical equipment in high-altitude areas.
