This year’s October 16 marks the 45th World Food Day, with the theme "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future." The week containing World Food Day is also China's National Food Security Publicity Week, and this year's theme is "Food Conservation: A Shared Responsibility."
Since the launch of the 14th Five-Year Plan, China has deeply implemented the national food security strategy, strengthened the capacity to store grain in the land and in technology, and consolidated the foundation of food security in all aspects. The per capita grain share has reached 500 kilograms, exceeding the internationally recognized food security line of 400 kilograms. This ensures basic self-sufficiency in grains and absolute security in staple food.
The latest agricultural situation survey from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs shows that over 60% of the national autumn grain harvest has been completed. By crop, nearly 70% of mid-season rice, 55% of corn, and nearly 80% of soybeans have been harvested.
