On the 27th, 14 United Nations Security Council members, excluding the United States, issued a joint statement calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, urging Israel to immediately revoke its decision to expand military operations in Gaza and to lift the restrictions on humanitarian aid to Gaza without delay.
The joint statement pointed out that the 14 countries are extremely shocked and deeply concerned by the reports from relevant United Nations agencies confirming the occurrence of famine in Gaza. The 14 countries emphasized that the famine in Gaza is man-made and that using starvation as a method of warfare is explicitly prohibited by international humanitarian law.
