Beijing, August 27 (Youth.cn) - On the morning of August 24, 2025, at the border between Guanling County in Anshun City and Zhenfeng County in Qianxinan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, the sea of clouds churned over the Huajiang Gorge, where the under-construction Huajiang Gorge Bridge stood imposingly above the mist.
On August 25, the load-testing for the Guizhou Huajiang Gorge Bridge was successfully completed, and the bridge is expected to open before China’s National Day in 2025.
As a critical control project of the Liuzhi to Anlong Expressway in Guizhou, the Huajiang Gorge Bridge spans 2,890 meters in total length. With a main span of 1,420 meters, it achieves the "longest span in mountainous areas," while its height of 625 meters crowns it the "world’s highest bridge," making it a world leader in both horizontal and vertical dimensions.
In the past, villagers traveling by vehicle along the national highway had to descend to the lowest point of the gorge, cross the old Huajiang Bridge, and climb back up to the highest point—a journey taking one to two hours. Once the Huajiang Gorge Bridge opens, travel time between the two sides will be reduced to just 90 seconds. Photo/CFP
