On June 17, 2025, China successfully conducted a zero-altitude escape test for the Mengzhou manned spacecraft at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, marking a new significant breakthrough in the country’s manned lunar exploration program. This test was the first of its kind to be organized and carried out in China since the zero-altitude escape test for the Shenzhou manned spacecraft in 1998, 27 years ago.
