On May 20, the World Health Organization (#WHO) finalized an international pandemic preparedness treaty, notably excluding the United States (#US). The agreement, overwhelmingly approved by member nations, was previously “boycotted” by top U.S. health official Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who invited health officials to resist what he called a “moribund WHO.”
China has been actively participating in the negotiations on the pandemic agreement with the spirit of co-operation and support for the WHO. On technical issues such as pandemic prevention and monitoring, China has adhered to the scientific spirit, put forward reasonable suggestions for amending the text, and been deeply involved in the drafting of relevant texts.
