Beijing, May 8 (Youth.cn) - On May 7, 2025, in Hefei’s Shushan District, the newly revitalized Nanmenku Scenic Area of Kuanghe Park - a transformation of abandoned industrial warehouses and railway relics - has become a vibrant green haven for residents. Locals now stroll, exercise, and relax in this reclaimed urban space, where history and ecology intertwine.
Once a bustling freight hub along Hefei’s 18-kilometer dedicated railway line, Nanmenku was built in the early 1970s at the crossroads of Hezuohua South Road and Xiuning Road. For decades, its towering gantry cranes hauled metal materials and goods, anchoring the city’s industrial rise. Today, these rust-red cranes stand preserved as striking landmarks, alongside a "Time Tunnel" walkway and modern fitness facilities, all nestled within lush gardens. Photo/CFP
