Beijing, April 27 (Youth.cn) - On April 26, 2025, photographers from Brazil, Russia, the Czech Republic, and other countries gathered at Bianhe Street in Yueyang, Hunan Province, to capture the allure of Baling Opera, a representative project of China’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Through their lenses, they immortalized the charm of this local traditional art.
Originating from Kunqu Opera introduced during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1573–1620), Baling Opera primarily features tanqiang (plucked-string vocal style) while incorporating elements of Kunqu and folk tunes. Over centuries, it has evolved into a distinct and stable operatic genre. The photographers’ focus on this art form highlights global appreciation for China’s cultural heritage and fosters cross-cultural dialogue through visual storytelling. Photo/CFP
