Beijing, March 18 (Youth.cn) - On March 18, 2025, a colossal 1,000-square-meter cherry-themed mural debuted beside JiJia PAI at Exit C of Jiedaokou Subway Station in Hongshan District, Wuhan. Created collaboratively by JiJia PAI and Super Paint Studio to celebrate the 2025 Wuhan Cherry Blossom Season, the mural transforms a commercial building’s facade into a whimsical urban oasis. The design features a cyberpunk-style mechanical dog wearing glasses interacting affectionately with a napping cat, a cherry tree "growing" from pink walls with petals seemingly falling as clock hands rotate, and a five-story-high pink staircase cascading with cherry blossoms.
Targeting Jiedaokou’s young demographic - students, office workers, and trendsetters - the mural employs a vibrant, dopamine-inspired color palette alongside cherry and pet motifs, reflecting Wuhan’s identity as a pet-friendly city while offering commuters a moment of warmth and serenity. During its creation, residents engaged via social media as "cloud supervisors," contributing ideas to the artwork.
As a hub of youth culture, Jiedaokou Business District, anchored by JiJia PAI (a revitalized space from the former New World Department Store), continues to evolve into a fashionable and international destination. This mural not only enhances the area’s aesthetic appeal but also symbolizes its commitment to merging art, commerce, and community-driven creativity. Photo/CFP
