Beijing, February 13 (Youth.cn) - On February 12, 2025, the Lantern Festival (15th day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar), the Qianjuntai Zhuanghu Banner Festival is hosted in Qianjuntai Village and Zhuanghu Village of Datai Sub-District, Mentougou District, Beijing City, attracting a large number of spectators. This ancient ritual, preserved for nearly 500 years, retains its original ceremonial practices and customs, earning its reputation as a "living cultural fossil" of traditional Chinese New Year celebrations in Beijing's suburbs. The Banner Festival, a voluntary custom formed by the villagers, has been passed down through generations in the village of just over 300 households. In 2014, the Qianjuntai Zhuanghu Banner Festival was listed as a national-level intangible cultural heritage. Photo/CFP
