Beijing, February 12 (Youth.cn) - On February 11, 2025, in Weihai City, Shandong Province, at dawn, kelp farmers in Ailun Bay Marine Ranch, Rongcheng City, set out on fishing boats bathed in golden sunlight to tend to vast underwater kelp fields.
As China's "Capital of Kelp," Rongcheng produces over 500,000 metric tons of fresh kelp annually. Renowned for its thick, nutrient-rich fronds, the kelp is a key raw material for high-end health products. Following the Start of Spring solar term, the region's maritime "spring ploughing" season begins, transforming the coastal waters into a hive of activity. Photo/CFP
