Beijing, February 8 (Youth.cn) - On February 7, 2025, Yichang City, Hubei Province, the Three Gorges Dam and its outbound transmission lines stand tall and mighty.
The China Three Gorges Corporation says it experienced a continuously climbing electricity demand during the Spring Festival holiday due to a cold wave sweeping across the nation. As a response, its world's largest clean energy corridor ramped up power generation to ensure the stable supply of electricity. From January 28 to February 4, six cascade hydropower stations - Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, the Three Gorges, and Gezhouba - collectively generated approximately 4 billion kWh of electricity, sufficient to meet the daily electricity needs of around 1.37 billion people, with an average daily output of 500 million kWh. These facilities played a pivotal role as "stabilizers" and "cornerstones" in securing energy supply. Photo/CFP
