Beijing, February 5 (Youth.cn) - On February 2, 2025, the first performance of the box lanterns takes place in the Yuhang Pingyao Ancient Street of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. As the night sets in, crowed people appreciates the bright lanterns in the festive ancient street.

The (imperial) box lantern is originated in Haixing County, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province in the Qing dynasty. The traditional-shaped multi-layered lantern carries fireworks in its containers, which gives colorful and bright explosions. Enlisted in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritages of Hebei in 2012, the lantern attracts audiences with its diverse shape drawing inspiration from animals and myths, and unique performances.
