Qingcheng Palace, situated in the residential area west of the West Gate of the Temple of Heaven, boasts a history spanning 566 years. Long utilized as a miscellaneous courtyard, the palace has recently been placed on the protection agenda as part of the efforts to include the Beijing Central Axis on the World Heritage List.
In 2020, the preservation of Qingcheng Palace was included in the "Three-Year Action Plan for the Protection of the Beijing Central Axis World Heritage Application," and the collection project commenced in April 2023. All residential houses were vacated within 35 days.
Protection and renovation work began on June 27, adhering to the principle of "minimum intervention" while enhancing the infrastructure. In the future, Qingcheng Palace will reopen as a museum, serving as a platform for world cultural heritage communication.
