(China Youth Daily) On October 16, the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) opened ceremoniously in Beijing, which was watched on TV by some foreign teachers and students from the Shandong University of Science and Technology.

There are 94 foreign teachers and 534 international students teaching and living in Shandong University of Science and Technology currently. They have not only witnessed the rapid changes in China, but understood the “happiness code” of China's sustainable development.

"In 2010, when I came to Shandong, China, I gave myself the Chinese name 'Liu Shan', which means staying in Shandong." Laxmisha Rai (Liu Shan), an Indian professor at the College of Electronic and Information Engineering of Shandong University of Science and Technology, expressed that he had visited many cities in China in the past 12 years and felt the changes here. Today, China's huge development achievements have attracted global attention, not only improving the lives of its own people, but giving foreigners in China a chance to share the fruits of development.

Talking about the future, Liu Shan said, “In 2019, I won the title of ‘Honorary Citizen of Shandong Province’. In the future, I’ll continue to be a friendly envoy of educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries, and do something beneficial for China's education, science and technology, and talent. I’m looking forward to what China will be like in ten years.”

"Having lived in China for eight years, I’m keenly aware of China's tremendous economic and social achievements. In the face of COVID-19, China has successfully coordinated the prevention and control of the epidemic and economic development, providing a strong impetus for the economic recovery of China and the world. The 20th National Congress of the CPC has drawn up a grand blueprint for China's future development, which will also provide new inspiration and new impetus for world peace and human civilization progress. The whole world is full of confidence in China's development." Nasser, an Iranian professor at Shandong University of Science and Technology, said, "In the next step, I’d like to seek deeper strategic cooperation between Iranian universities and Shandong University of Science and Technology. China, a hot land, has given me more opportunities and made me full of enthusiasm and hope for the future.”

AVAZOV NASIMJON, a Tajik student from Shandong University of Science and Technology, said, "In the past five years, I’ve personally witnessed China’s development achievements by participating in the social research and social practice organized by the university. I’ve been to the countryside and seen enterprises. From urban construction to rural revitalization, there are railways extending in all directions, and villages getting rid of poverty. Everywhere is full of vitality. The convening of the 20th National Congress of the CPC will guide China's future development and contribute more to the development of the world. China and Tajikistan have always maintained friendly relations. I believe that the convening of the 20th National Congress of the CPC will further promote the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, culture and education. I’ll study hard and strive to become a messenger of cultural exchanges between the two countries and contribute my youthful strength to the realization of a community with a shared future for mankind.”

"I’d like to go abroad to study and experience different cultures and the education in China attracts me.” SITENDA AMOS, a Ugandan student at Shandong University of Science and Technology, thinks that China's development is amazing. “The success of China brings not only opportunities but confidence to developing countries. I hope to apply what I’ve learned in China to building my own country so that more people can live a decent life.”
