Whenever Li Xuezhan walks into the central school in Xuanfeng Town of Luxi County with his suitcase full of handmade teaching aids, he will be followed and surrounded by students. Li, 58 years old, became a science teacher in 1996. Due to the lack of teaching aids, he had to collect empty bottles, wood, broken tyres and turn them into teaching aids for science class. Now as the school's teaching conditions have improved, Li and his students have more chances to make teaching aids and models together, some of which even win innovation awards. "Compared with the schools in urban areas, the level of our teaching aids for science still falls behind. Nonetheless, we will make all-out efforts to catch up with our own hands." said Li.
