【#Tech24H】On October 26 local time, OpenAI announced the launch of GPT-6.1 Terra. As an upgraded version of GPT-5.6 Terra, the new model focuses on improving visual reasoning, Computer Use, factual accuracy, and coding capabilities, while further reducing API call costs. Unlike past model updates that mainly emphasized reasoning capabilities and benchmark scores, GPT-6.1 Terra focuses more on everyday work scenarios, including writing business proposals, understanding technical drawings, filling out forms, operating software, and assisting with video editing. OpenAI said the new model achieves a new balance among speed, capability, and cost. Its standard API price is 50% lower than that of GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol, and in some professional task tests, Terra’s performance is already close to the flagship model GPT-6 Astra. This means developers do not necessarily need to call the most expensive model to have a chance to complete some complex tasks that previously required high-performance models.[ By Zhang Liyan | Tang Ruohan ]
