【#Tech24H】CGN announced that the CGN Golmud 350 MW solar thermal demonstration project has officially broken ground in the Wutumeiren Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal Park, Golmud, Qinghai Province. As the world's largest solar thermal power plant in terms of single-unit thermal storage capacity and mirror field area, the project features a total mirror field collecting area of 3.7 million square meters—equivalent to the size of 518 standard football pitches—including three 1.1-million-square-meter tower-type mirror fields and one 400,000-square-meter trough-type mirror field. The trough-type mirror field exclusively uses 8.6-meter large-aperture trough collectors independently developed by CGN. Notably, the project is equipped with a 15-hour high-capacity molten salt thermal storage system with a storage capacity of 11,747 MWh, making it the solar thermal power project with the largest single-unit thermal storage capacity to date. This enables stable power generation, provides excellent grid peak-shaving flexibility, and effectively enhances the renewable energy integration efficiency and overall power supply reliability of Qinghai's power grid.
