【#Tech24H】Today, the common transoceanic transmission solution worldwide is mainly 400 Gbps. At the 21st Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronic Exposition, Wuhan FiberHome International Technologies under China InformationTechnology Group unveiled China’s first 800 Gbps transoceanic ultralarge capacity transmission system, with a transmission distance of up to 6,000 kilometres. Submarine optical cables carry 99% of intercontinental communications and data traffic, from sending a WeChat message to relatives overseas to initiating a crossborder financial transaction. In the AI era, this “undersea highway” has become even busier. One of FiberHome’s goals in developing this transoceanic ultralarge capacity system is to enable data to travel faster, farther, and more reliably through submarine cables. According to the company, FiberHome has already built a fullstack marine optical communications product system covering transmission, power feeding, repeaters, and more, achieving a complete industrial layout from shore to seabed.
