【#Tech24H】A team led by the University of Science and Technology of China, in collaboration with domestic research institutions, has successfully developed the programmable quantum computing prototype “Jiuzhang IV”, which features 1,024 squeezed-state inputs and 8,176 modes. It is the first to manipulate and detect quantum states of up to 3,050 photons. “Jiuzhang IV” takes only 25 microseconds to generate one sample, while using the El Capitan supercomputer and the best classical algorithms would take over ten to the forty-second years, a quantum advantage on the order of ten to the fifty-fourth times. The achievement of "Jiuzhang IV" represents a major leap in the scale and complexity of low-loss photonic quantum processors.
