Photo List Scientists Develop the Smallest QR Code

【#Tech24H】Scientists at the Technische Universit?t Wien in Austria, in collaboration with German data storage technology company Cerabyte, have successfully developed a QR code with an area of just 1.98 square micrometers. Smaller than most bacteria and only visible under an electron microscope, it has been recognized as the world's smallest QR code and included in the Guinness World Records. Its storage density is equally astonishing: using this method, an area the size of an A4 sheet can hold more than 2 terabytes of data. More remarkably, the QR code is etched onto a ceramic substrate, allowing data to remain intact for hundreds of years without continuous power consumption, making it highly eco-friendly. This breakthrough lies not only in its miniature size but also in its longevity, opening new avenues for long-term data storage.
