【#Tech24H】On November 26, Qualcomm officially launched the 5th Generation Snapdragon 8 chip (Snapdragon 8 Gen 5). Building on Qualcomm’s latest architecture, the Snapdragon 8 Gen5 matches the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (released in September) in several key metrics. This also marks the first time the Snapdragon 8 Series has featured two chips within a single generation. While the architectures of the two SoCs are similar, the standard edition features underclocked CPU and GPU components compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, alongside new integrated modules. The 5th Generation Snapdragon 8 series boost overall AI performance by 46% through the new Hexagon NPU. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 supports multimodal generative AI, processing diverse inputs like voice, text, and video. Users can activate the smart assistant simply by picking up their phone and speaking, with no wake word required.
