Specialized Film Enables Robots to Walk on Water
【Tech 24H】A research team from the University of Virginia's School of Engineering and Applied Science drew inspiration from aquatic insects like water striders. The team develops two prototype robots which can "walk on water" through a novel thin film. The two newly developed devices each have distinct features: one, named "HydroFlexor," propels itself by mimicking the fin-like movements of fish, while another, "HydroBuckler," imitates the rowing motion of water striders, "strolling" across the water surface with a unique bending posture.
