【Tech 24H】Scientists from the Geological and Paleontological Institute of Patagonia in Argentina have discovered a well-preserved, partially articulated fossil containing most of the skull, fore and hind limbs, ribs, and vertebrae. It belongs to a South American predatory dinosaur species named “J. casali”. This species is a member of the theropod Megaraptoridae family and dates back to the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 70 to 66 million years ago. Analysis of bone microstructure indicates the specimen was an adult but possibly not fully mature, likely around 19 years old at death. The dinosaur is estimated to have been about 7 meters long and weighed over 1,000 kilograms.
