On July 30, the Precision Design and Intelligent Manufacturing team from China's Yazhou Bay National Laboratory, in collaboration with the Shanghai AI Laboratory and China Agricultural University, launched "Fengdeng·Gene Scientist" - the world's first autonomous scientific discovery system for biological breeding. This milestone marks China's significant advancement in smart breeding technologies.
The breakthrough "Fengdeng·Gene Scientist" system achieves intelligent automation of molecular biology research processes. Capable of simulating molecular biologists' workflows, it independently conducts crop gene function studies and demonstrates robust research capabilities in gene mining and functional prediction.
As the system is progressively applied to staple crops like rice and corn, it is expected to significantly shorten breeding cycles while enhancing both precision and efficiency in developing new crop varieties.
