
Beijing, July 21 (Youth.cn) - On the evening of July 18, 2025, the opening ceremony of Bijie City's 2025 Torch Festival Carnival & Summer Retreat Tourism Season was grandly held at the Axilixi·Ertaipo Scenic Area in Hezhang County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. Over 60,000 tourists from across the country and local residents of various ethnic groups, dressed in festive attire, immersed themselves in a summer extravaganza blending ethnic culture with modern passion.
During the opening ceremony, a cultural performance was presented in the form of a large-scale live-action drama, divided into three chapters: "The Peak of Qian's Mountains," "Mysterious Yelang," and "Axilixi." It vividly showcased the profound cultural heritage and vibrant vitality of the Wumeng region, resonating deeply with the audience.
The ensuing bonfire carnival with tens of thousands of participants pushed the atmosphere to its peak. As the roaring bonfire was lit, people of all ethnicities and tourists joined hands to form a giant circle. To the rhythm of cheerful music, they danced the passionate and unrestrained "Wumeng Joyful Dance."
The Torch Festival, a traditional festival of the Yi ethnic group, carries deep folk cultural significance. It conveys the Yi people's passionate attitude towards life and their simple yet profound philosophy of life.
