Beijing, July 14 (Youth.cn) - On July 13, 2025, Kuigan Village in Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, celebrated the traditional "Changxin Festival" (Tasting the New Grain Festival). Ethnic compatriots from surrounding villages gathered in festive attire, singing and dancing to mark the annual event in a grand and lively atmosphere.
Also known as the "Chixin Festival" (Eating the New Rice Festival), this ancient custom involves inviting ancestors to "share the meal." When early rice ripens, families harvest fresh grains, taste the new rice, and offer sacrifices to their ancestors with chicken, duck, and fish. It is one of the region's most cherished traditional festivals.
The day’s festivities included a gate-blocking welcome ceremony, ancestral worship rituals, a costume parade, and a folk song competition, among other vibrant activities. Photo/CFP
