Beijing, April 29 (Youth.cn) - On April 28, 2025, in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, a tourist boat slowly departed from Wulinmen Wharf, passing through Deqing's Xinshi Ancient Town en route to Huzhou's Nanxun Ancient Town. This trial voyage marks the potential revival of the Hangzhou-Huzhou section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, a historic waterway suspended for three decades.
The Hangzhou-Huzhou inland passenger route, dormant for 30 years, has entered its pre-operational testing phase. This scenic journey blends historical heritage with natural landscapes, aiming to "bridge cultural tourism between two cities and revitalize waterway economies." Future plans include integrating canal cultural relics, ecological watertown vistas, and urban tourism resources from Hangzhou and Huzhou to create "a dynamic cultural corridor along the ancient waterway."
