
Beijing, March 28 (Youth.cn) - On March 27, 2025, in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, after the completion of the second-layer concrete pouring for the pile cap of the No. 4 main tower of the Xihoumen Rail-Road Bridge, the site cleanup was underway. This milestone marks the full completion of the bridge's substructure and signifies its transition to the main tower superstructure construction phase.
On the night of March 26, after 80 consecutive hours of pouring and the final concrete placement, the second-layer concrete pouring of the No. 4 main tower pile cap, undertaken by China Railway Fourth Bureau Group Second Engineering Co., Ltd., was successfully completed. The Xihoumen Rail-Road Bridge spans 3,118 meters with a main span of 1,488 meters and a main tower height of 294 meters, making it the world's longest-span and widest cross-sea rail-road co-located bridge currently under construction. The second-layer pouring for the pile cap reached a height of 5 meters, utilizing 11,450 cubic meters of concrete.
As a key project in Zhejiang's transportation network, the Yongzhou Railway will fill the gap of no railway access in Zhoushan City. Its completion is expected to enhance regional rail connectivity, boost tourism, and accelerate the integrated development of Ningbo and Zhoushan, further integrating these areas into the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
