Beijing, January 15 (Youth.cn) - On January 13, 2025, over the Qinba Mountain in Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, the workers of Jiangsu Electric Power Transmission and Transformation Company of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., LTD. are constructing power grid in the sky for the ±800 kilovolt Ningxia-Hunan Ultra High Voltage Direct Current Transmission Project, Section Shan-4. The project is the first electricity transmission line for the green energy bases in deserts of China. Beginning in Ningxia Zhongning Current Transformation Station, ending in Hunan Hengyang Current Transformation Station, the line features a length of 1,634 kilometers, going through provinces of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Gansu, Shaanxi, Chongqing Municipality, Hubei, and Hunan. Expected to be operational in May of 2025, the project will be transmitting electricity of over 36 billion kilowatt-hours annually and increase the electricity supply of Chongqing by one sixth.
