Beijing, December 12 (Youth.cn) - Luohe, Henan, the archaeological dig site of the ancient tombs on December 9th, 2024.
Luohe Municipal Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology of Henan Province stated recently that their archaeology excavation team joined by Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology began to excavate the ancient tombs in Luohe, Henan. These ancient tombs were discovered during the construction of the Pingluozhou high-speed rail. Densely yet orderly laid out, these tombs were put into use from the Warring States Period to Eastern Han Dynasty, for about 400 years. Current excavation result of more than 200 tombs shows that these tombs are mostly intact with abundant artifacts - over 1,000 pieces - including bronzes like swords and daggers from the Warring States Period, as well as ceramic, iron, and jade wares from Han Dynasties. There are walls, roads, and bases of large scale structures from the Warring States Period, as well as coins and remains of pottery kilns from Han dynasties found in the surrounding area previously, which indicates that the ancient city of Yan was quite developed during the Warring States Period and Han Dynasties, contributing to the research of the development of the ancient cities in Luohe.
