Photo List Woodcut paintings in Pu’er, Yunnan Province

Beijing, December 10 (Youth.cn) - In an out-of-print woodcut painting practise base, a teacher was teaching woodcut painting skills on December 9th. Out-of-print woodcut is a relief block technique on the base of traditional colored woodcut. The technique is originate from Pu’er City, Yunnan Province, and is one of four main woodcut painting techniques in China. By gathering all color plates on one plate, the creator cut the plate while printing. Therefore, the process of printing is also the process of destroying the plate. The plate could not be recovered after completion. The name “out-of-print woodcut” was gained because of this reason. Photo/VCG
