Beijing, November 11 (Youth.cn) - Photo shows the construction site of Changtai Yangtze River Bridge. Its steel deck has been paved, which means another main progress has been made since all parts of the bridge were connected.
As the world's largest span cable-stayed bridge, Changtai Yangtze River Bridge is the first river crossing on the Yangtze River that integrates expressway, intercity railway and ordinary highway. The total length is 10.03 kilometers, in which the double continuous truss composite is 4266 meters' long. Totally 250 thousand square meters' steel deck was paved in the two stories of the bridge, which is equivalent to 33 standard football fields. The average thickness was between 6.0 cm to 6.8 cm. For different driving areas, the construction team applied 8 kinds of pavement structures and systems. For the upper story, hot-mix epoxy asphalt was used to improve endurance of the road surface and comfort level of driving. For the lower story, cold-mix high-toughness epoxy resin was used to reduce impact of no-light construction environment and of in-plane vibration of railway and highway. Now, the electrical construction, housing construction and other appurtenant works, are under construction. It is expected to be basically completed in the first half of 2025. Photo/VCG
