Beijing, November 11 (Youth.cn) - Photo taken in Tengger Desert photovoltaic base in Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on November 10th. Blue photovoltaic panels transmit green electricity continuously. The photovoltaic base in Tengger Desert is a gigawatt-level new energy base planed by the government. Being part of "transmit electricity from Ningxia to Hunan", it is also the first Uhv transmission channel that exploits desert solar resource to produce clean electricity. As a green energy station on the passage of "West-East power transmission project", the project is expected to produce 3.96 billion KWh green electricity every year, reducing 1.207 thousand tons' of standard coal cost and 3.2938 million tons' of carbon dioxide emission. It contributes significantly to the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe and high-efficiency energy system. By the end of October 2024, Ningxia's installed capacity of new energy power generation accounted for 54.5%, and the scale reached 40.2 million kilowatts. New energies become the most used power source in Ningxia. Photo/VCG
