Beijing, October 9 (Youth.cn) - Bird-banding work is taking place in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province. On October 8th, bird-protection professionals banded signs for 196 migrant birds of 25 species. Since September 19th, 24 professionals have count birds' populations of different species. To observe birds' migrate routes, they installed satellite positioning tracker. They also pay attention to birds’ pandemics. After banding signs, they free birds to the nature. During September 19th to October 8th, 1138 birds of 62 species have been banded. This years bird-banding work will last until the end of October. Over 2000 birds will be banded.
The migrate route passing through Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture is one of the most important international migrate routes for birds. Every autumn, thousands of migrant birds fly from high-latitude region to low-latitude region and stay in territories of Myanmar, India and Malaysia. These years, local forestry and grassland bureau engage actively in bird-banding work and public communication of bird protection. Forester system has been built to protect ecological environment. As a result, ecological civilization construction has made great progress while ecological environment has been improved.
