In recent years, the rapid industrialization of AI technology has created new demands for the supply of rule-of-law expertise. How can countries collaborate to harmonize their legal frameworks and enhance international cooperation? In promoting the construction of AI industrial legislation, what are the universities’ significant innovative measures?
On August 15th, at the 2024 World Youth Development Forum - Thematic Forum for Digital Development, Lin Wei, President of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and Chairperson of Chongqing Digital Law Research Society, shared his views.
In 2023, China issued the Global AI Governance Initiative, emphasized that all countries, regardless of their size, strength, or social system, should have equal rights to develop and use AI.
In an exclusive interview with China Youth Daily, Lin Wei said that countries need to proactively participate in the international governance of AI in order to foster a friendly environment for AI development. At the same time, they should learn from other countries with advanced AI development, promulgate favorable AI laws and policies to incentivize scientific innovation. “The universities can cultivate talents specifically tailored for AI industry and also provide legal safeguard for the development of AI firms,” said Lin Wei.
