【#Tech24H】Affected by ocean current scouring, seabed geological evolution and fishing activities, submarine cables are prone to exposure, free spanning and even rupture. After years of research, a research team from Dalian Jiaotong University has integrated electromagnetic detection, sonar sensing and underwater robot control technologies, and made breakthroughs in key technologies for intelligent submarine cable detection and reburial. The team developed an intelligent submarine cable detection system with fully independent intellectual property rights, filling the domestic gap in collaborative operations under complex sea conditions. Restricted by sediment coverage, turbid seawater and complex seabed terrain, the actual position of submarine cables often deviates from the preset route, which imposes strict requirements on equipment stability. During operation, electromagnetic sensors capture characteristic signals to rapidly locate target cables. Meanwhile, the sonar system collects seabed topography and surrounding environmental data to continuously track and spatially position the cable route. With multi-source information fusion and intelligent analysis, the system can accurately identify the position, trend and burial condition of submarine cables, and supply solid data support for subsequent construction.
